About Us
Shine Special Education Center, Inc., more commonly known as Shine Intervention Center was founded on March 11, 1998 as an intervention center for persons within the Autism Spectrum. Shine Intervention Center runs as a school for individuals with special needs and exceptionalities. It operates all-year round, and provides educational and therapeutic services to persons from early childhood to adulthood with various developmental conditions. We specialize in addressing the behavioral concerns and skill deficits brought about by Neuro-developmental delays, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, Global Developmental Delay, Down Syndrome, Language and Communication Handicaps, Speech Disorder, Learning Disability, Cerebral Palsy and related disorders. Our area of expertise is in behavior management, early intervention, adolescent and adult vocational skills training, social skills training, oral placement therapy alongside other various services we provide. As an intervention center who provides educational services in order to eventually have our students be mainstreamed to regular schools and or graduate for inclusion into open employment, we also have a sheltered workshop for adults with special needs wherein they are provided with alternative income from the sales of various items produced within their unique skills set and exceptionalities. Our Facilities
The school has been constructed custom-built for individuals with autism and related disabilities. We have allotted ample space to simulate different social and community settings for our students' adaptation skills training. Each floor caters to different ages and programs. The second floor has a therapy room with six cubicles to implement one-to-one sessions. Large floor area for group sessions for gross motor, sensory activities, extra-curricular activities such dance, yoga, gymnastics. It has a built-in indoor wall climb and suspended equipment. The third floor has five rooms to cater to students in their early childhood. It has one room with nine cubicles for one-to-one therapy session, another room with four cubicles for dyad sessions, two rooms that simulate regular preschools for pre-mainstream skills training, an audio-visual and multipurpose room for music, dance, art and other support intervention. The fourth floor is dedicated for pre-adolescent, adolescent and adult students. It has seven rooms inclusive of a computer lab, independent-living simulation room and customized rooms for pre-vocational and vocational training as wells as rooms to run our adult transition programs. |
The last two floors of the building is where we have our Sheltered Workshop with the necessary equipment for the assembly line of our students' products. We have a condo unit full-furnished for both independent living skills training and other Transition Programs such as house keeping and room service. Our Team Our team is comprised of dedicated and skilled interventionists with Bachelor or Masters degrees in Education, Special Education, Psychology, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Speech Therapy. We have a Board Certified Cognitive Specialist, Advanced Board Certified Autism Specialist on board our team. Some of our team members have both local and international continuing education units in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), Treatment and Education of Autistic and Communication related handicapped CHildren (TEACCH), Oral Placement Therapy (OPT) and other related fields of study.
